My Students

Our program is a two-way immersion program that has been developed so children are able to attain high academic competency in both English and Mandarin, and become bi-literate in both languages. The program has also been developed to enrich children's education by incorporating many cultural activities and after school programs.

Students are from all ethnic backgrounds.

My students are in a self-contained classroom with me throughout the day. 70% of instruction is taught in Chinese whereas 30% of instruction is in English.

My Project

My students need to read each night so they can become confident readers. With these new bags, students will be able to bring home a variety of books each week from my class library and read independently at home.

Reading is important because it develops a child's mind and helps to understand the world around her.

Reading also helps children to develop better communication skills.

We have different types of reading in class each day that includes guided reading, read aloud, and independent reading. However, I want these good habits to continue when they are at home. These book bags will help my students to continue with this good habit.
