My Students

Students participate in small and whole group instruction, which is delivered by the teacher. They are provided with the opportunity to demonstrate learning through various tools, such as individual whiteboards, manipulatives, and other interactive resources.

Made up of twenty-nine first-grade students, each with their own unique learning styles and ability levels, there is never a dull moment in our room!

Fun activities, colorful personalities, strong relationships, and a love for learning are all characteristics that one would use to describe our class. However, with all the excitement and coordinated chaos comes hard work, dedication, and ultimately, teamwork. I have been blessed with not only wonderful students but also a supportive team of parents and staff.

My Project

First graders learn so many new math concepts! The best research shows that for students to master new math concepts the best thing to provide them is the use of manipulatives as an introduction. When using manipulatives as a whole-class it is VERY helpful for me to have my own larger-than-life tools to manipulate with them.

In addition, our class uses individualized book bags that contain leveled books for each child.

Our current Ziploc book bags look like a dog attacked them. They're falling apart, making it difficult for children to keep track of their books. These new zipper pouches will allow kids to access and maintain their books easily.
