My Students

I teach 25 amazing students in a rural community in South Carolina. They are in 4th grade and are ready to learn about the world. They have a wide range of interests. Having quality literature in my classroom will help my students develop a love and passion for reading.

My Project

Each year, my school participates in a state wide literary competition called Battle of the Books which encourages students to read more and improve their reading comprehension. This competition quizzes students on the South Carolina Book Award Nominees for the year. It is for students in 3rd-5th grade. I would love for my students to be able to participate in this competition and help them get excited about reading! By donating to my project, I would be able to have the award nominee books in my classroom for my students to start reading. The students are always so excited about Battle of the Books and having the books readily available in my classroom would be such a wonderful gift.
