My students live in a small community. Some parents are able to support the classrooms but the majority of the time, teachers are left to financially support their classrooms themselves. I want to provide these students with all the supplies and tools they will need to be successful this year.
My students are hard workers and come to school everyday ready to learn.
They are excited and curious to learn about all the new opportunities our classroom has to offer.
My Project
I am asking for books for our 2nd and 3rd grade students so they can participate in Book Adventures, a reading incentive program for students in grades 2-3. The goal is to encourage reading and celebrate students’ efforts. Many of our students want to participate in this reading program but we don't have the books on the list to do so. With these books, our students will read 12 of the books on the book list and then participate in Book Adventure Games, a game-show style competition where they work in teams to answer questions about the books they read and earn points for correct answers. The Book Adventure Games will last an afternoon and be a fun opportunity for students to celebrate their reading accomplishments. Students will be assigned to a team, given a mascot, and will participate in at least four rounds. These books will benefit over 90 students and give them the opportunity to read a variety of books, grow a love for reading, and participate in a great event that celebrates reading.
