Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In the middle of Nebraska, you will find a school that serves 350 second and third graders. The school is 75% Hispanic with 50% English Language Learners. This school also has 88% of its students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Our students work hard and are eager to learn.
Our school library is a unique and essential part of our learning community.
The students that use this area are engaged with learning resources that help encourage them to become lifelong learners and readers.
Our students face many challenges daily both in and out of the classroom. I know I cannot change what happens outside the door of my classroom, but I want to inspire my students as much as I can while they are inside my four walls. I want to prepare capable and lifelong learners for challenges and opportunities for the future.
My Project
The use of reusable writing tablets will compliment our learning in the library. The writing tablets will allow me to see exactly what students are thinking, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Dry erase boards and markers create messes that the tablets can help avoid. No more worrying about dried up markers or lost erasers. By having Boogie Board writing tablets, students will be able to avoid these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will also help them with an easy way to takes notes about the important things they are learning.
In this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology. The tablets will be used to assess students' comprehension as well as taking quick notes while they are researching a topic.
The Boogie Board writing tablets clear themselves with the simple push of a button, eliminating the need for erasers. There are no cords or chargers, so they will take up minimal space in our learning environment. The durable screens will last for years in our library, and many students will benefit from the use of the Boogie Boards!
