My students are active. They are scientists, mathematicians, writers and artists. They are excited about learning and exploring the world around them and sharing their thinking.
We are a small, diverse, rural school with a small PTO.
During literacy, my students love reading from texts, writing sentences and sight words on whiteboards, listening to stories, and developing fine motor skills. We are constantly practicing writing our letters and numbers correctly.
Many of my younger kids get easily frustrated by mistakes and quickly want to give up so we are constantly searching for tools to help them persevere.
I want my students to have access to this tool for learning because it will excite them and get them engaged in a new way for our small literacy groups and math groups. Our children love technology and tablets, and this gives them a similar experience for much less cost. The Boogie board will allow students to try over and over again without using paper and pencil, saving other materials costs and mess. The board allows students to trace letters and numbers. A feature so helpful for our younger students! These young children are developing their fine gross motor skills and this tool gives them another experience to strengthen these muscles. I am excited to share this project with my classes each year.
