Boogie Into Learning With Boogie Boards

My students need 23 Boogie Board LCD writing tablets and sleeves to fulfill our school's goal of keeping our students actively engaged and increasing student achievement.

My Students

A typical day in my second grade includes 22 energetic boys and girls who come to school to learn the foundational skills to make them successful in life. I try to do my part by providing them with tools that will help them to learn in this highly technological world.

Our students are Midwest Nebraska students that come from a small rural community.

They are bright students with great imaginations and work ethic. They understand that they have to work hard each day at home and at school to be successful. Our school does a great job of showing by example and doing what they can to provide the tools and materials that our students need to achieve great things. Our school and teachers hold our students to high expectations and do not give up when things get tough. We are constantly looking at data to see if there are areas that we need to improve.

My Project

Our teachers K-12 had a teacher workshop this summer to learn many ways that we can keep our students actively involved. It was called Explicit Direct Instruction. One thing that was mentioned many times was the use of white boards. When I am teaching, I can have the students write an answer on their white board and cover and hover so others can't see. This keeps all students actively involved instead of just calling on 1 student while the others are daydreaming. The problem that I am having this year is that I am constantly having to replace their markers and provide Kleenex or wipes to wipe off their boards. I think that the Boogie Boards would be very handy and easy for lower elementary students to use .

Our principal would like for the techniques that we learned this summer in the EDI training to be things that we use everyday.

I feel that the Boogie Boards would be used daily and for several subjects.
