Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is composed of 16 amazing students! This is a sixth grade, LDM (learning disabilities mild-moderate) classroom in an underprivileged city. In our classroom, we focus on practice and growth. We can do hard things and we do them every single day. Although each student faces a different academic, social, and/or economic challenge, they try their best every day to overcome.
My students are incredible; their growth and perseverance inspire me every day.
My Project
Our district announced that we will be staying remote for the first marking period (3 months). As a special education classroom, it is crucial that my students have hands on materials to help them better access the work. When we were in person, my students used marker boards every day during guided math and writing. These Boogie Boards are the perfect tools to help them practice math, writing, and fine motor skills. They are more practical than paper, pencil, and marker boards as they would not need to be replenished constantly.
These boards would mean less supplies for parents to get and a much more enjoyable and engaging experience for my students!
