My students need a new and engaging way to interact personally with the learning content. We use whiteboards currently, but markers must constantly be replaced. With boogie boards, they can collaborate without mess and expense.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our 4th grade students are a group of motivated, excited, and ambitious English Language Learners. Each one of our students is walking a journey of learning the English language and they are finding the joy in walking that journey together. Our students love to learn new skills that open their horizons to possibilities for their future, and love to challenge themselves to work hard toward discovery. Our students are helpful in each other's learning and know that hard work together will help them succeed.
My Project
We are requesting boogie boards so my students can collaborate without mess and expense of markers. These Boogie Boards will allow my students to interact personally with content in every subject, just like old fashion personal whiteboards, but without the mess and expense of EXPO markers. I have noticed an increase in marker-related distractions and a decrease in motivation to continue using the whiteboards. However, these Boogie Boards would bring a new and improved method of learning and expressing thought, while providing ease of access and a fresh motivation in their expression of thought.
Being in a Title I school, access to new and technological materials is limited.
Although these are not laptops, these boogie boards are a new electronic method of expression to add color and technological access to my eager to learn fourth graders.
