My Students
Making reading fun and exciting is one of my main goals as a first grade teacher!
I teach a group of enthusiastic first graders who are so excited to learn that it pushes me to find new authentic ways to have them learn!
My students range in learning abilities and include students that are gifted, students with special needs and students whom are speakers of other languages.
My Project
The program Speakaboos will help my students stay excited about reading in first grade! This program will also help the other primary grades (k-2) in my school as the students will be able to read stories to other students and share what they are learning about. I plan to use this program with my small groups. The students can read the stories, have the stories read to them and then fill out worksheets, play games and do many different things to work on reading comprehension. Speakaboo using classic literature which would be a great way to share classic stories with students that are not always that excited about reading. This program would help me raise the confidence in my struggling readers while pushing my accelerated learners to reach new reading goals!
