My Students
My students are individuals who have interventions designed to help them succeed in the general education setting. Everyone is learning to both advocate for their own needs while contributing collaboratively in the classroom. Stress is a huge part of their day due to approximately 90% of our high school's population attending college, so the climate is one of academic excellence. It is my mission to create Resource projects that target stress-reduction and thereby better equip them for post graduate success.
My Project
Resource class is essential to keep students with disabilities in -- and help them pass -- their mainstream classes and graduate on time. Our project will help our bodies and brains, and helps students build coping skills, which are hard to adopt -- it's not fair to just punish students for forgetting. Accountability for our actions and learning from our mistakes are the hardest lessons to learn, and the BEMER will help with that.
Because stress is an ever-present threat in schools (due to tests, grades, homework, friends, sports teams, family issues) causing high drop-out rates, our Student Success Teams (SST) designate Stress-Less Days.
The BEMER will improve our focus, memory, and grades. Health and wellness are important aspects to develop, and healthy, stress-free wellness starts with improving weaknesses. These days, students need all the assistance we can get to help us graduate with our friends, and using technology is the best way to learn.
We've already scored our homework, test scores, grades, and mood on a 10-point scale to establish a baseline. We will use the BEMER for 10 minutes individually three times a week during Silent-Read and track our scores for four weeks; we expect our grades, over-all involvement, and mood to rise steadily.
The BEMER promotes healing throughout the body, which improves mood and short-term memory, which optimizes their efforts and enhance their growth. Assistive technology is an attractive accommodation that helps students master the curriculum and reach their goals.
My students need a BEMER Pro-Set, the B. Sit, Travel Bag, and Rechargeable Battery. The BEMER will enhance students' reading-level, confidence, and overall health -- all pluses for any young adult about to enter college and/or the work force. In my classes, developing students' problem-solving skills, writing skills, and independence is the ultimate goal.
