This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students need extra help making the best choices possible at school. These loving students want to please their teachers but often require specialized plans to assist them in the process. In addition to giving the students choices and praise, they require tools such as token boards and options for reinforcement.
Being positive and providing choices helps students to take ownership of their behavior.
Providing colorful, kid themed token boards allows students to set goals, by choosing what they are working for (use of a toy or other preferred item) and receive additional positive reinforcement through the presentation of tokens. Laminating tokens and token boards will help them last throughout the school year and velcro makes the token boards interactive with the tokens and visuals of the available reinforcers. When a student achieves their goal, that student “cashes in” their tokens and again chooses what they will be working for.
A variety of reinforcer options will provide opportunities for the students to choose amongst several fun activities.
These students may be seen as challenging, but they are so rewarding to work with. They are loving, caring and eager to please.
