Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am seeking to introduce a set of engaging and educational board games for my students to help support their development in several key areas:

Social Skills – Including cooperation, conversation, and perspective-taking.

Language Skills – Supporting vocabulary, sentence structure, following directions, and verbal expression.

Turn-Taking and Play Routines – Reinforcing structured interactions, patience, rule-following, and understanding game-based routines.

Motivation and Positive Reinforcement – These games will also serve as a fun and motivating reward system for students who reach specific speech or communication goals during sessions.

The use of board games in speech-language sessions offers a naturalistic and enjoyable way for students to practice communication in a low-pressure setting. They encourage spontaneous language, peer interaction, and the generalization of skills beyond direct instruction.
