it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of the students in my community stay after school because there are few safe options for them outside of school. I want to create a safe space for them to play board games and interact in a safe environment. I do not want the students to be on their phones, instead, the interactive board games and activities will help them to socialize, build skills and have fun in a healthy manner. My students are kind, sometimes we do stay after school to play soccer, and do homework.
However, I notice that they also need a break from stress.
This is where the board games can help them cope with stress in a healthy way. This project will help me create the safe space for the students who stay after school on a regular basis. I usually stay for 2 hours after school dismissal because I have to wait for my son who is taking a class in the local community college nearby. I notice many students have nothing to do after school and sometimes they are just on their phones. The main purpose of this board games is to help me create a safe space within our school where they can socialize, learn and play games in a healthy manner.
