Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, curious, and full of imagination. They attend a dual language elementary school in southern Texas. For many of them, books are not something they have easy access to at home, so our classroom library becomes a vital source of reading inspiration and growth.

This project will bring the 2025–2026 Texas Bluebonnet Award book nominees into their hands—books that are known for captivating young readers, building empathy, and encouraging critical thinking.

In addition to those award-winners, I’m requesting several high-interest book sets (including graphic novels and early chapter books) to support a wide range of reading levels and interests.

To make this library easily accessible and organized, a mobile rolling bookshelf will help keep all these books within reach and beautifully displayed—encouraging students to browse, select, and fall in love with reading every day.

This project will spark reading joy and promote literacy. With your help, our classroom library will become a space of discovery and excitement that truly reflects the power of books
