Help me give my students a treasure box of new books to explore this year! The Texas Bluebonnet nominees are always a slam-dunk with dozens of hand-selected titles picked by some of the state's top librarians!
Our students are excited about learning, and we want to channel that excitement toward their reading! Our students come from many different walks of life, and we firmly believe each and every one of them can fall in love with reading if they are given the opportunity.
At our Title I school, many children are not exposed to reading for pleasure at home, and my goal is to help create a classroom environment that changes their perceptions of reading; they will begin to see reading as a form of entertainment and a lifelong pastime.
Our number one goal for our 5th grade students is to help them fall in love with reading and develop a life-long passion for wonderful books! By building our classroom libraries full of of engaging, high-quality books, it's easy for students to find one that's a perfect-fit.
The books we've selected are the Bluebonnet Award nominees for 2019-2020, and they will help expand our classroom libraries with wonderful new literature that our students will love!
Many of our students don't experience the enrichment of a home full of books and a love of reading, and our classroom library is a home-away-from-home - a cozy environment, full of wonderful books, where reading is celebrated and shared. You never know what book might be the one that will spark a lifetime of reading, but we know this year's Bluebonnet nominees have some wonderful contenders that will help us build an amazing library!
