Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a public school in the Bronx called BLS. Like many other schools now, we are currently preparing to open schools for blended learning.
We are excited to welcome many of our students back into the school building after months of being away.
We are also sad that many students will not be returning to in-person learning and will be opting for 100% remote learning.
Being a school in a neighborhood in the Bronx where many of our students cannot afford technology or lack access to the internet, remote learning has been a challenge. We as a school community are doing everything we can to ensure our students have access to all of the technology they need so that they can engage in online learning, STEM projects, and communicate with their teachers and peers every day whether they are in school or learning from home.
Our students are leaders in the community and in their schools. We hope to keep on developing their minds and leadership skills this year.
My Project
Our school is opening for blended learning which means students will be coming to school in person for part of the week and will be working remotely during the other days of the week. These tablets will be used both in school and at home so that students can participate in virtual activities.
Our school needs these tablets in order to teach students lessons in STEM, practice skills like typing, and becoming comfortable using technology for participating in some of the clubs at our school such as newspaper, drama, and student government.
Our students are now living in a new world where digital learning is crucial to their success. Providing them with up to date technology will help our students to be successful in this digital world.
