Blowing Away Our Sight Words!

My Students

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my classroom! I teach kindergarten in a high poverty area (100% free breakfast and 75% free lunch) and most of my students have never even been to preschool. With budget cuts, we don't have the money to buy the resources that young children need to make learning fun. I want to give my students the resources they need to become successful, independent learners.

My students are so excited about school, and I want to give them every resource possible to foster their love of learning.

Though they may face challenges at home, they come in every day smiling and ready to learn. Please help us reach our goal! Thank you for your time and support!

My Project

I help my students master common "sight" words by using an incentive program that we call "Bubble Gum Words!" Students are given 10 sight words at a time to learn and master. Once mastered, the students get a dot sticker to place on their achievement chart and a real piece of gum. Once a student has mastered all of the common Kindergarten sight words (all 100) they will receive a small gumball machine to take home!

We are helping sight words stick with bubble gum!

I also need need hands-on sight word games, leveled readers, and "magic" reading glasses to make reading exciting! Thank you for considering my project!
