Our school is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 1100 wonderful students. We serve our military community as well, pulling in students whose parents work at the USMC and Naval facilities at either Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, Bogue Air Field, or the two Coast Guard stations. In the state's ranking system, our high-performing high school has been ranked as a top ten public high school in NC for many consecutive years. We have also won accolades in athletics and the arts programs.
We are proud of our success in the classroom and outside of it as well.
This STEM project will provide eight digital wind meters also known as anemometers. In our environmental science course, we study alternative energies and the viability of them. Wind energy is promising for many areas, but especially ours because we are located by the Bogue Sound and Atlantic Ocean. and we like to often see what the wind speeds are. Our students also like to compare our data with local references and weather reports.
