Bloom Where You are Planted...Bringing Our Garden Inside.
My students need plant bingo games, plant parts specimens, cells and Organisms book sets, recycling activity kits, magnifying lenses, and specimen slides to bring our school garden and environmental studies indoors for the winter months.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Shepard's classroom raised $486

One of the most powerful things kids of today can learn about is where their food comes from, how plants grow to produce food, and how to grow their own food, even if they live in an apartment.
I teach kids who live in poverty and are challenged in ways that one would never want to imagine. Getting them out into our garden has one of the best experiences. They have been missing our lessons outdoors since we put the garden to bed for winter. They aren't done talking and learning about it though! Having games and materials to support on-going studies on plants in our classroom will help bring our outdoor experience indoors. When spring comes around, the kids will be ready to take what they have learned indoors back out with them to apply to real life.
Our classroom could use some hands-on materials and games to enhance our garden learning experience. Games such as plant bingo will help the kids with plant awareness and identification. Materials like specimen slides and the 3 R's activities give the kids a chance to examine and understand plants, human impact and our connections to the Earth. The Cells and Organisms book sets will be a valuable resource to make further connections within ecosystems such as our garden.
A gift such as yours will make it possible for my students to continue learning about plants, ecosystems and our human connection to where our food comes from, as well as how it grows. Thank you for considering my kids and helping make their lives richer with hands-on learning that will create lasting connections.
