My Project

My 5th graders love the read aloud of "Blood on the River: James Town 1607" because it helps them to see the history between the early colonizers and the Native Americans as a relationship between real humans, and not two-dimensional archetypes. One thing my students wanted this year was the tangible book to hold and follow along, but there were no additional copies of the book available in the school building.

In preparation for next school year, I would like to get a class set of the novel so that all future students are able to have their own copy of the book to reference during our novel study.

This will allow them to read along with the text while also using the books as references while completing their reader response activities.

This book has been a favorite for many students, and I look forward to using these new novel copies with all of my students in the fall.
