My Project
I have a group of 21 energetic pre-k students. They come to school everyday eager to learn and play. One of their favorite things to do during center time is build and play with blocks.
When children are given the opportunity to play with blocks, they will develop mathematical and scientific skills like classifying and sorting, problem solving and number and measurement concepts.
Block play also helps develop children's gross and fine motor skills.
I already have several different kinds of blocks in my classroom already (wooden unit blocks, soft foam blocks, cardboard blocks, mega blocks, duplos, etc). I am wanting to add some materials to bring more pretend play into the block center. Adding cars, traffic signs, people and animals to my block center will give my students opportunities to develop their imaginations, creativity and oral language skills,
