Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child should have access to blocks. My students love to play with blocks, but unfortunately, we don’t have enough blocks for all of the students to enjoy this activity when playing outside. Block play helps children with problem-solving, boosts their creativity, helps develop math and language skills, and develops their Social Emotional Learning.

Block play is an open-ended activity—the child is in charge.

Children are often told what to do and when to do it, but in block play, they get to make all of the decisions. They learn through trial and error. They get excited when they make a really tall tower.

Children often work together to make all sorts of creative objects. They talk, negotiate, and problem-solve, working on important life skills while playing with blocks and having fun. With this project, all of my students will have access to blocks. They will think, explore, plan, create, share, and build better brains while playing with one of the best toys for kids - blocks!
