My thirty students this year are a very special group. They are just getting ready to start the year and I'm looking forward to it! This group is very imaginative and inclusive when creating. I really appreciate how they are continuously looking for ways to grow and push themselves to succeed. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of racial diversity in our classroom, but I feel it is crucial to discuss race at every level. They will start strong by learning routines and really looking out for each other. I share a lot about myself with them over the first few weeks of the year and I love the opportunity to learn a lot about them as well. I can't wait to get the year started and read this book together!
Originally constructed in 1965, Stephenson Elementary is a one-story, wood-frame building.
It is a mid-sized school with a total of 40,539 square feet. It has an average enrollment of 310 students and serves grades K-5 on an 8.9-acre campus in southwest Portland. Stephenson offers single-grade classes, two at each grade level. It has a history of high achievement, minimal discipline problems, and an amazing learning environment.
My Project
The Soft-Kut Printing Block, Felt Pens, Paint Brushes, and watercolor paint in this project will be used in so many ways. I already have block printing tools from a previous project but haven't been able to get funds together for the rubber stamps needed for carving. These students have never been exposed to block printing and I'm sure they will really enjoy this. My plan is to use these to create their own planets or re-create a planet. We will share each other's stamps and create a solar system book of stamps. I know this will be a hit and prove to be an amazing display in the classroom. I appreciate your donation!
