it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Engaging middle school students in reading is a challenge many teachers face—especially in a world filled with distractions and screens. That’s why I’m launching a surprise book-of-the-month club designed to spark curiosity, build excitement, and foster a genuine love for reading.
With your support, each month my students will unwrap a new, high-interest book selected just for them—no spoilers, no titles revealed in advance—just the thrill of discovery and shared stories.
This element of surprise creates an atmosphere of anticipation and joy, shifting reading from a requirement to an adventure.
These books will serve as the foundation for our monthly book club discussions, allowing students to connect with peers, explore diverse perspectives, and develop critical thinking and empathy through literature. I want students to walk away from this experience thinking, “I didn’t think I liked reading… until now.”
Your donation will help provide books, packaging supplies to create the “surprise” experience, and materials to support meaningful book discussions. Together, we can help students not only open a book—but also open their minds and hearts.
