My students need basic school supplies. These include a class set of Crayola markers, 24 packs of Crayola crayons, 30 Elmer's glue sticks, and 24 blunt tip scissors.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a lively and fun group. They enjoy learning and work hard everyday. They especially love art and being creative. Although at times they struggle academically, they are persistent and surprise me constantly with their effort.
Over eighty percent of the school receives free or reduced lunch.
Therefore, many of my students' families struggle to make ends meet. Some are even temporarily homeless. They are also a super diverse group, academically, emotionally, and racially. However, even though they are diverse, they are a family.
My Project
Imagine being a student and not having the supplies you need to be successful in a class. That is the reality of many of my students. They do not have the basic supplies I know I took for granted when I was a kid. In fact, I remember being excited when I got to pick out my school supplies.
I do not want my students to worry about not having what they need for class.
Therefore my project is for basic school supplies. Today I am seeking scissors, crayons, glue sticks and markers. This will allow each student to have his/her own basic supplies. It will even the playing field and relieve a lot of stress for my students and their families.
