I have about 25 girls in my basketball program. This will be my second year as the head coach at my school. We are a low income school, and a lot of these girls have not experienced success. I am doing everything possible to help these girls succeed. I want these girls to feel prepared and trained.
A lot of the girls I work with are just now starting to experience success due to their hard work.
It is encouraging to see! I would love to provide them with some equipment to help them in their off season training and some equipment to use during season. We are a low income school and all funds must be raised by our team, so it can be difficult to get everything we need and desire.
My Project
A lot of the materials I am trying to get are things to help the girls gain skills that are lacking on the court. For example, a slide board will help train the girls how to do a correct defensive slide and will help their agility. These will help get them in shape and help them refine the fundamentals that have been missed before they got to high school. I really do believe that these girls are very deserving of receiving these materials. We are trying to change the basketball culture at our school and are doing everything possible to help these girls see and experience success firsthand so they can believe in themselves.
By these girls experiencing success and building up leadership, I believe that each of these girls will be impacted not just now, but will be shaped into respectful young women who know what it takes to work hard at something.
Having great equipment like ladders, a slide board, and dribbling training glasses will help these girls prepare for the season and feel confident when they step foot on the court for their first game.
