Do you remember the fun of trying to get a bug to crawl up your arm as a child? Many of my students feel like bugs are crawling on their skin many times per day due to their sensory challenges.
My students are in kindergarten through fifth grade classes for students with severe disabilities.
They attend a public elementary school with their neighborhood peers. Their differing abilities include: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Epilepsy, visual impairments, and hearing impairments. Many have parents currently serving in the U.S. Military.
My Project
The exercise balls that we are requesting are absolutely amazing! They are made of heavy duty materials that will help them last many years. We will use them in our motor planning room with the guidance of our Occupational Therapist. We are very excited that they come in red and blue just like the American flag.
Having these exercise balls will help students from 5 to 11 years of age with severe disabilities regulate their nervous systems so they are better prepared to concentrate on their academics and communication.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
