Our school is a Title I school in Georgetown, South Carolina. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, with many below the poverty line qualifying for free and reduced lunch. As a school, we work hard to meet the needs of our students on a daily basis.
Our school is like a family with members depending on each other for support, love, and community on a daily basis.
Students, faculty, and staff care about each other and work hard throughout the year to grow as a community.
My Project
Helping students develop their passions outside of the classroom is a pivotal roll for education. One of our goals is to create life-long learners, and this is only possible when students can pursue their interests in whatever area they feel driven towards. In order to meet this need for our students, we will be implementing clubs during the school day for all students for the 2021-2022 school year.
Having clubs during the day will ensure all students can participate, but this comes with some drawbacks- primarily being able to properly supply these clubs.
Rocket club is one of the most anticipated clubs for next year, and in order to adequately start this we will need some rocket sets to get kids thinking and working. Being able to show them a model will enable all students have a starting point of reference for their STEM development as they work throughout the year.
