My Project

The students are great conversationalists as individuals. However, they need exposure in the area of literacy to help them use words in their correct context. Their experiences to the world of literacy have proven to be limited. The materials will be used to enhance the library I am dedicated to establishing when the school year resumes in the fall. Materials will be used by both students with and without learning differences across all grade levels - TK-4.

The younger students will be able to use the light table with translucent letters, to help improve their phonetic spelling pattern skills, to aid in reading.

They will also be able to use the play sand in trays to write letters and simple words, (and self-correct as necessary) to also aid with their phonetic spelling.

The students who need additional practice to improve their fine motor skills, will be confident in engaging in activities; that will support their growth in these areas, in preparation for reading and writing.

My vision for the library, is to develop it as an interactive library. Spacious floor seating on cushions and rugs will create an inviting environment where students want to be excited about come explore the world of literacy.

The purpose is to cultivate a love for reading and writing, to introduce students on how to conduct simple researches and write detailed essays; as well as how to use the dictionary to improve their vocabulary and spellings.
