I have a wide variety of high school math students in both Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus Accelerated. Some love math but most do not. They just know they need their level of math to move through high school and beyond.
When motivated these students can accomplish amazing things.
We are a large school in a suburban setting. Our school has moved to a one-to-one school with Chromebooks and would like for everyone to go paperless. STEM classes have had a difficult time with this. Writing math is the best way to learn math at any level.
My Project
Rocketbooks are a cloud interface notebook where students can write notes and do their homework. They then can electronically send this to their Google files, my e-mail or wherever they wish to organize this information in the cloud. Then they can wash the notebook off and reuse it.
Rocketbooks are environmentally friendly and an organizational dream.
My students are not very organized. I know if they keep their notes and their homework organized and easily found for reference their understanding and grades will improve. I know this because some of my students are using these already. It is easy to find their work to study and ask questions when they don't understand. Math questions are frequently difficult to explain in an e-mail from a students. With the rocketbook they write the problem, circle where they have the question and send it to me immediately. I do the same with my rocketbook and their questions get answered quickly.
