Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a large high school in the small rolling hills of Los Angeles, with a group of students that are a joy to teach. The students have a diverse back ground. 90% of students have roots in Latin culture. Students at my school on a whole are friendly, and altruistic.

Students are learning using a variety of digital resources, that allow for video conferencing, virtual chemistry labs, online textbook, & assessment.

Students are currently 1 to 1 with Chromebooks.

My Project

With a new full featured laptop, I will be able to deliver more interactive chemistry lessons. With online teaching, the speed of the computer processor is imperative to a smooth distance learning experience. This new computer will allow me to deliver video conferences, with screen sharing & writing on the screen.

Chemistry is math based and students need the steps to solving the problems.

By having a touch screen, I'll be able to walk my students through chemistry examples with more ease. Also distance teaching allows students to connect to the global society. I plan to use the more powerful computer to schedule guest speakers for my students. Connecting students to to guest speakers in the field of science will broaden their world view on topics such as climate change, poverty, education, ect.
