it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Welcome! My little classroom is a special place to be! I am so lucky I get to spend my days teaching kindergarten and first grade. Our school is located above the hustle and bustle of the geographic center of our city. Education is very important to our thriving, multicultural neighborhood. Eighty-five percent of students are English learners with non-English speakers in the home.
Many new immigrant children find their first home on American soil here at our school.
My K/1 students are curious, creative, and full of questions about the world around them. To fuel their love of learning, I’m hoping to build a classroom library filled with books about space, emotions, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). These books will take us on journeys to outer space, help us understand our big feelings, and spark our imaginations with hands-on science adventures. By having access to a variety of engaging, age-appropriate texts, my students will not only build stronger reading skills but also explore topics that help them grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
