Hi. I work with scholars in PK-5th grade at a Title I school that is employing the tool of Outdoor Leaning on a regular basis. Like all children, our scholars are curious about the world and are eager to make friends, however many of our scholars have limited outdoor spaces and outdoor experiences.
We've noticed that when our scholars go outside to learn they become alert, self-driven and happy, exploring their world and reminding us of the JOY in learning!
My Project
During a recent school renovation, a new safe outdoor preschool playground was built, however no items were placed in the space. Currently, students can run circles, climb a few stairs and slide down a small side, but they have no items to play with or ride on! Many of the preschoolers have developmental delays and autism and thus have a high need for fun and engaging movement opportunities.
Imagine our students joy when they see their bare bones play space suddenly adorned with trikes, colorful climbing equipment, scooters and a climbing path!
These donated items will truly enhance the students play time while offering fun movement opportunities to develop motor, social and language skills.
