This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at my school will be studying light and electricity as part of their science and reading curriculum in the general education classes. They will study scientists like Edison and Tesla as part of this unit. How fun would it be to carry the idea of light and electricity into the art room?

We will have a blacklight art show!

But we need backlights, blacklight flashlights, and neon decor. Students will create art projects using neon paint, neon crayons, and neon oil pastels. Then the magic happens...we turn off the classroom lights and illuminate our artwork with black light! All the art projects will glow and appear to light up under the black light. The students and parents will be amazed! Most importantly, students will make a connection with the science of light learned in their general education classes and connect that with the light they are using in the art room. This will make their learning and their artwork come alive!
