Black Wax Museum Project Costumes for Our Black History Production

Help me give my students realistic costumes for our Black Wax Museum project, during our annual Black History Production this February.

My Project

My talented middle-school students have been rehearsing their performance lines, as we gear up for our annual Black Wax Museum Presentation. The Black Wax Museum presentation is part of our school-wide, annual Black History Production. Each student is assigned an important person in Black History. Students then have to research their assigned person and actually become that person in character. This is a WONDERFUL and interactive way to teach our children school-wide, about the prominent people in Black History.

How exciting it would be for my students to be able to dress the part of their assigned characters, while holding props related to the characters they are depicting.

Costumes and props would REALLY enhance our presentation. Students would be able to connect with the Black History characters in a realistic and meaningful way.

Teaching Black History is SO important to the development of my predominantly African-American students. Learning about the accomplishments, contributions and sacrifices of their ancestors will help to cultivate a positive sense of self-identify, and will ultimately improve self-esteem.
