My classroom is filled with 20 creative, hilarious, and ambitious first graders! I have 4 students who are EL, and it's been wonderful learning about their culture. They are eager to learn new content and strategies to help learn new concepts. They enjoy a hands-on approach and learning in small groups with their peers. While conflicts do occasionally arise, they are doing their best to be leaders and actively try to resolve problems in an effective, kind manner.
In my classroom, we create a bond that will never be broken.
We are a community; we share our strengths and weaknesses. We help each other grow and preserve through the challenges that young "firsties" may face in order to prepare them for the future! Once a student is in my classroom, they will always be considered one of my "children.”
My Project
Young children LOVE positive behavior recognition and rewards! Children are still learning the difference between right and wrong, and this can often be a challenging task! At my school, we utilize the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) behavior management system. I also use Class Dojo, which I also use to primarily focus on the positive and good behaviors my first graders exhibit, and reward the child based on those good and appropriate behaviors and choices! I am looking to reward and provide incentives that are highly engaging to my firsties!
I want to fill my prize box with engaging rewards that are also linked to educational topics!
The prizes I have chosen will provide a learning experience. Instead of just offering "cheap" plastic toys, these prizes are learning tools in the area of writing, reading, math, science, social emotional, and critical thinking! The students will get to choose their prize based on their interest and what meets their learning needs.
The motto in my school district that we follow is "Black Tiger Pride.” The motto focuses on students being respectful, taking responsibility, and practicing safety every day! Please help provide my first graders with rewards they can earn by being their best self!
