Help me give my students books that reflect their lives and their identity. Every child deserved to see themselves, their friends, their family, and reflections of the world they live in when they open a book!
Help me give my students the joy of reading about the black experience during A Black History Month "Read In" Celebration. In order to celebrate Black Lives during Black History Month our school will be hosting a "Read In".
The purpose of our school's "Read In" is to give students the opportunity to explore books about the Black Experience as we celebrate Black History Month and beyond.
This is extremely critical because Black Stories, by Black authors are often neglected in school curriculum. Students and staff will have a variety of genres by acclaimed authors such as: Jason Reynolds, Kadir Nelson, Stacey Abrams and Ibrahim Kendi. Students will also read biographies of important black singers and athletes.
With your support, we hope to explore black lives, experiences and culture through a Black Lives Matter "Read In". Students will partner with each other and "Read In" as they "Stand Up" for black lives and black literature.
