Black Is Powerful: A Project of Racial Diversity

Help me give my students magazines that provide opportunities to see diversity in the classroom through art and research projects.

My Project

Providing students with resources and supplies, such as Model Magic, to create art that represents all members of a classroom as well as research projects that represent the person’s true identity. It can be challenging when teaching young 8-year-olds about racial justice and encouraging them to use their voice. The magazines showcase articles about kids that do just that and can be a powerful resource for teachers like me.

“Black is powerful,” said by an eight-year-old second grader that showcases that you’re never too young to learn how to notice and speak out against injustices.

I’m very excited to teach my students about powerful black voices and to give them art supplies so they can represent all types of people.
