This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school, where the majority of the students come from low-income families. My students have overcome many tough trials that have come their way. They work hard every year to accomplish this project. For many of them, this will be the first time that they get to be in the spotlight and not only feel special but be recognized for their hard work.
My students are definitely dedicated to this assignment and look forward to it when they reach the fourth and fifth grade.
My students deserve to have the spotlight on them and have others come see their work come to life.
My Project
This will help us to create a Hollywood museum right here on our school campus. Our students will be dressed as a historical figure as parents and visitors come out to see this educational, yet fun event. This is our third year doing this event, and each year gets better and better. The students come to life at the touch of a button, and present a one-minute speech about their historical figure. Last year, we were fortunate enough to have this displayed on the local news. However, the hardest part is getting affordable and good quality decorations to transform our space. This project allows students to research about great people in history and gives them an opportunity to learn in a fun and exciting way. The students look forward to this project every year. Any help is greatly appreciated.
