Help me give my students an assortment of Black History Month books and resources to help engage with the STORIES and LIVES of those who are/were change makers.

My Project

My students are 5th graders who are eager learners, active citizens and tech savvy engineers. Access to resources that help them learn about their past is critical. As we celebrate the accomplishments of noted African Americans, it's important to bring excitement and wonder about those who have come before them.

It's important to make an impact.

Exposing students to literature, music, and representations of their culture helps to capture what they see in life with deeper meaning. To help broaden the discussion, students will use the books to assist with learning and making deeper connections with the text and how it might related to their own lives.

The icing on the cake would be the Valentine's Day snack boxes, because what kid wouldn't want a sweet treat to go along with a good book.
