Black History Month Celebration & Learning

Help me give my students a Black History Month of learning and celebration! We need a powerful reminder that Black history is American history, Black culture is American culture, and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Sommers's classroom raised $224

My Project

In 1915, in response to the lack of information on the accomplishments of Black people available to the public, historian Carter G. Woodson co-founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. Each February, National Black History Month serves as both a celebration and a powerful reminder that Black history is American history, Black culture is American culture, and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of America.

Students need to learn about their history and see themselves represented in the classroom, school and community at large, being celebrated!

This is a way we can learn in a fun capacity while celebrating Black Americans and their vast and amazing contributions to our country.
