Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am blessed to be able to work with students who are curious about life. When we have discussions in class, it always amazes me to hear the amount of background knowledge they already have. A large amount of that knowledge comes from their love of reading! .

With Black History Month right around the corner, I would love to incorporate more books into our music lessons about African American musicians and the impact they had on shaping music as we know it.

Gospel, the Blues, jazz, hip-hop - all of these are genres that have their roots in the African - American music scene, and need to be introduced to my students. I would love for them to meet some of the great musicians of the past, and fall in love with their music.
