This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a combination class of 4th and 5th graders. Please help me with books to teach them about influential Black Americans. It is important to teach kids about Black history because through Black history, we learn so much about ourselves and our abilities to overcome challenges – big and small. We learn to reason and wonder about things morally. We also learn from the mistakes people made in the past and learn the importance of treating others with compassion.

We learn to be givers and helpers.

Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of America — our faults, our struggles, our progress, and our aspirations. I plan on using the books and everything in this project to dedicate the month of February towards teaching my students about overcoming challenges and celebrating and sharing knowledge.
