My Project

Adding Black history books to our 6th grade classroom library is crucial for fostering a deeper understanding of the significant contributions and experiences of Black individuals throughout history. This inclusion helps students appreciate the diverse narratives that have shaped our world, promoting a more inclusive and well-rounded education.

These books will not only enrich our library but also inspire students to recognize and celebrate the diverse contributions of Black individuals throughout history.

We would like to add several impactful books to our collection. "Little Legends: Exceptional Men in Black History" and "Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History" by Vashti Harrison celebrate the achievements of Black men and women who have made significant contributions in various fields. "Black Leaders in the Civil Rights Movement" offers insights into the lives and legacies of key figures in the fight for civil rights.

Additionally, we have books that highlight the groundbreaking work of Black scientists and inventors. "Black Men in Science" and "Black Women in Science: A Black History Book for Kids" showcase the contributions of Black scientists and their impact on the world. "Black Inventors: 15 Inventions That Changed the World" highlights the innovative contributions of Black inventors. "Stamped for Kids" by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi provides an accessible exploration of racism and anti-racism in America. "The Rose That Grew from Concrete" by Tupac Shakur provides a poetic reflection on the struggles and triumphs of Black life.

These books will offer powerful insights and inspire creativity and critical thinking in young readers.
