This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love my job and I love my students! Not a day goes by that I am not smiling, laughing, and having a blast. Don't get me wrong, there are many sad and stressful parts of my job as a Title 1 third grade teacher. Many of my students have hard lives with many barriers, but nothing gets in their way or mine in making them life time learners.
Students in poverty don't have everything they need to be collage and career ready, but I want to change that.
Through hands on learning, a STEAM focus, and a positive growth mind set, my students are on their way.
My Project
I learned a lot about the lack of females and minorities in the computer science fields while at the 2016 Anaheim STEM Conference, sponsored by the California Department of Education or CDE. I never knew that, "By 2020, there will be 1.4 million computer science jobs available in the US.", According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
With so many computer science jobs opening up, I want my students to be ready to fill them with confidence.
By creating a Maker Space that includes LittleBits and Ozobots my students' imagination, creativity, and engineering skills will be limitless. My students will build those foundation skills need to be confident with computers and all technology.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
