My Students

My students live in a rural community and are striving every day to be leaders! We are a "Leader in Me" school, and my students and I strive to live by the Seven Habits. Our school is very small, and we are the center of the community.

"A Leader is one who knows the way, who goes the way, and who shows the way." ~ John Maxwell.

Our little leaders believe that they can do anything, and I believe that too! My students learn best when they are able to move while they work. They are creative, active, and overall amazing little people.

My Project

Second graders are so excited to be readers. As they are getting more secure in their reading skills they are starting to be motivated to read chapter books.

We would love to give every child a chapter book for his or her birthday!

This book would be special because they will be able to choose not only the book for their birthday, but also a book for our classroom library. They will be able to sign and donate this special book. A win for the child AND a win for the classroom!

This project will give the children a birthday book coupon so that they may then choose their books from Scholastic's book catalog. Putting "miles on the page" helps students become better readers too!
