This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As our badminton family grows, we need the equipment to help our student athletes train, practice, and play.
Our high school team represents a school from an area that has a lower socioeconomic status compared to other high schools in the area.
Many of the students who join the team fall in love with the sport. My student athletes are committed to representing our school with good sportsmanship and respect for their sport.
My Project
Currently, our team shares the same nets that are used with the PE classes. Also, the nets have not been replaced for a while, and are showing their age. Being fortunate to recently receive newer equipment, including rackets and scoreboards, we would like to have a set of six nets that the team can call our own. Since we share the nets, there have been occasions where we struggled to access the nets on occasion, making it difficult to practice and play. With additional goose feathered birdies, our student athletes can work on different training drills during our practices.
When our team and family had our previous project funded, my students were thrilled to have new rackets and birdies.
However, they were also so excited to have new scoreboards that brought a refreshed feeling to our gym. With new nets and additional birdies, we can provide our team with a complete set of equipment that the students will be able to care for as their own.
