My Project
School stores provide learning opportunities for students to develop financial awareness, 21st-century skills, and essential core values.
Students earn Bird Bucks based on their job performance while in school and once a quarter they are able to go shopping at the Bird Bucks store.
The students know how much the items cost and what they can purchase so therefore they manage their money well. This has been very successful and we need to provide more requested items, such as; LEGO sets, LED glasses, puzzles, and games. In addition, some of these items will be used at home for family time.
The students have become more aware of working as a community and at the last student store they purchased items for others for the holidays.
The student store has taught students long-term thinking, self-awareness of their "bank accounts" and attitudes toward learning.
