My Students

My students are very creative and they like to learn about new things. They are at an age in which they have a lot of ability. They can think things through and they are developing great fine motor coordination. They soak up new experiences eagerly. It is a great time to expose these students to basic sculpture skills in Art because they are still willing to try new things. It is exciting to offer them some skills that can be applied to Art as well as engineering and their daily lives.

My Project

These supplies will allow students to make their own unique Birch Branch Animals from real birch branches! They will select and cut their own pieces of wood with the pruning shears. They will assemble the pieces with the glue, hammers and nails. Then they can enjoy the critters for years to come inside or outside because the glue is exterior quality! This will give the students experience in making a high quality sculpture that is structurally strong and very creative! The kids will learn to use the beautiful birch trees around us! These birch branch animals will be uniquely creative and filled with Adirondack tradition.
